HP OJPro 8710 makes noise when restarting…. error says scanner is disfunctional. error message: scanner failure

Have you tried a power reset? Did you try to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers? Most of the errors problems occur due to sudden power outage so always perform a power reset on your printer. To do so, while the printer is still powered on and idle, remove the power cord from the rear of the printer and wait for a minute or two and connect the power cord back to the printer. Now restart the printer and check if the problem is still there or not. If not, I recommend you to download the latest version of your printer drivers from the hp support website
