My 8740 printer, the scanner fails to initialize on power-up
Please perform the following steps- with the printer on, unplugged the power cord from the rear of the printer, wait for a minimum of a minute or two and plug the power cable back into the rear of the printer. Wait for the printer to automatically turn-on, if not your printer might be going through warm up. once the printer is idle, check if the scanner has initialize now or not. if the issue is still there, then restore your printer to its factory defaults. To restore it back to factory settings, open the setup from the printer control panel, tap printer maintenance, tap restore and tap again to restore factory defaults and touch restore. Hope this helps
