my phone is asking for a password for the printer in order to connect

Inorder to print using your phone there are two ways,
The first one being, connect both the printer and your phone to the same wireless network
Second  Wi-Fi Direct – this uses the printer as the router so you connect your phone directly to the printer. In this case you would be asked for the password (this would be to prevent everyone who is in range being able to use your printer). If this is the case and you are using Wi-Fi Direct, you can get your password by following the steps
Locate the Wireless Direct name and password if you have Wireless Direct security on:
(a) From the Home screen, touch the Wireless icon, touch Settings, and then touch Wireless Direct. (b) Touch Display Name to display the Wireless Direct name. (c) Touch Display Password to display the Wireless Direct password
